Walking Together: A Workshop on Synodality and LGBTQ+ Inclusion

The Synod on Synodality concluded in October, 2024, but the synodal journey continues for the Church and for LGBTQ+ members of the Church. As we walk together towards the Reign of God, the implementation of synodality calls us to cultures and structures of mutual listening and discernment, with a particular need to listen to the voices of those on the peripheries.

About Walking Together

This workshop explores how receiving and implementing synodality can allow our parishes and other Catholic institutions to better listen to LGBTQ+ experiences and foster a church of dialogue, accompaniment, and welcome.  It will teach participants about the theology and practice of synodality, particularly in relation to LGBTQ+ issues, and engage participants in synodal conversation to discern how their parish may be called in the Spirit to grow in its mission to and with LGBTQ+ Catholics.

The Facilitator

Facilitating the conversation will be Brian Flanagan, PhD, a theologian and Senior Fellow at New Ways Ministry. Dr. Flanagan is an expert on the theology and practice of synodality, with particular expertise in how the spirituality and structures of synodality provide foundational resources for a more inclusive and welcoming church.

Thanks to the generosity of a sponsoring foundation, this workshop is available free of charge, and in both online and in-person modalities. For more information please complete the interest form below.
