Alumnus Petitions Catholic University to Support Court’s Title VII Decision
An LGBTQ alumnus has petitioned his Catholic alma mater to publicly support a recent U.S. Supreme Court victory shielding LGBTQ workers from employment discrimination.
Brian William Kaufman completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Boston College, where he focused on the role of religion in international affairs and Catholic theological ethics. Prior to completing his Juris Doctor at Emory University School of Law, Brian studied and worked abroad in Paris, France, for four years.
Brian has also worked for a number of social justice organizations, including the National Center for Lesbian Rights and the American Constitution Society.
His studies and professional experiences have focused on the intersection among sexuality, gender, religion, and child welfare law and policy.
Currently, Brian is the Director of Studio Operations for Down Dog Yoga, a yoga community in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia area. He is a certified 200-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). Brian started teaching yoga in August 2020 for his studio, and he absolutely loves it!
Since August 2014, Brian has also served as the Residential Liturgical Coordinator and Senior Dorm Parent for Georgetown Preparatory School, an all-boys Jesuit high school located in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.
