Elizabeth Linehan

Elizabeth Linehan (Betsy) is Professor Emerita of Philosophy at Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia PA. Central teaching and research interests are ethical issues in criminal justice and health care, and restorative justice.  Betsy has served on ethics committees in two health care organizations, on health care boards for sponsored institutions in Atlanta, and on boards of Mercy-sponsored universities in Chicago and Detroit.  She was honored in 2003 with the Deo Gratias Award from Dignity, Philadelphia, for her LGBTQ education and advocacy work at Saint Joseph’s University. At present, she chairs the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas work group on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), implementing a mandate from the 2017 Institute Chapter.   She recently celebrated her 60th anniversary of entrance into the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.
